Red Rhino Group began in 2016. Managing Partners Walt Morgan and Chris Fortune saw a need for quality general contractors in Raleigh/Durham. So they started Red Rhino Group. Red Rhino Group serves the multifamily housing industry with integrity and honesty. With integrity and honesty Red Rhino Group is bringing some very cool spaces to apartment communities all over the Triangle.

What is your current lead time for starting new projects?

Three to six weeks, depending on the project.

How do you manage to execute so many projects at one time?

Process and people. We have developed a great process with amazing people that allow us to execute a variety of projects. We focus on what each team member is really good at and then try to remove the white noise to allow them to do their job.

What work do you do?

We execute CapEx and Interior Renovations in the multifamily space. We are competitive in projects that require project management and use of multiple trades. There are currently segments that market directly to the same properties we work on. Roofers, asphalt pavers and flooring come to mind. We really aren't competitive within those segments, as we need to mark them up to make money.

Why don’t you do roofing? Other GC’s like yourself do.

Warranty. Red Rhino stands behind the work we do. We do some roofing, but hire local roofers that if there is an issue 2 years from now, we can call them to resolve it. We work with trades that also stand behind their workmanship and product. Unfortunately, good roofers that offer workmanship warranties are not the least expensive, so we often get priced out of the market.
